Why wait until January 1st to start your goals for the new year? Now is a great time to begin creating your plan! If you are like 80% of the people who desire to improve their health by either losing weight, becoming more physically active, or you simply want to feel good in your own body, then keep reading. As a chiropractic physician, I’ve helped many patients in the health planning process. In my years of clinical practice as a chiropractor, I’ve discovered that most people have a deep desire to improve their overall health and well-being.
Your Health Must Be a Priority
When it comes to improving your health, you must make it a priority. There is no way around it. What we prioritize in our lives, are people, situations, and things we spend the most amount of the time. Furthermore, if your health is not a priority, chances are you will not be successful in improving it because it’s not important. The reality is other people cannot make your health a priority only you can do that. Others can support you as you pursue a healthier lifestyle, however, it’s ultimately up to you to do the work.
Why is it important for you to be healthier?
What are your “whys?” Why are you making your health a priority? Knowing and understanding why you are choosing to prioritize your health is essential. The person who benefits the most from you prioritizing your health is you. No one can be forced into adopting a healthier lifestyle, they must choose the lifestyle. You have freedom of choice in how you live your life, be sure to choose wisely as every choice you have made and will make directly impacts your health and life.
Plan for Success
To be successful in achieving your health goals for the upcoming year requires planning. Poor planning or the lack of planning often leads to poor or no results. Success is no accident, it is often achieved by planning and executing. When it comes to health planning, it is no different from planning for a vacation. Planning is a process that requires research, gathering of information, and time.
If you spend at least a few minutes planning your health goals, you will be taking a huge step to improving your health and life. As the saying goes, “When fail to plan, we plan to fail.” Don’t let another year go by without you achieving your health goals.
It’s Your Health, You Are Responsible for You.
To maintain good health, you must take responsibility. You and only you possess the ability to change your life because it is your life and your responsibility. While you can solicit support from others such as friends, family members, colleagues, and healthcare professionals, ultimately the decision to take actions that make our health and lives better is up to you.
