While you are on the Road of Recovery, we will help move your through the three (3) Phases of Care and Healing at a pace that is comfortable and practical for you.
Phase One: Palliative/Pain-Relief Care
During this phase of care and healing, we are relying on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. We help to alleviate the patient’s symptoms by providing therapeutic procedures to help maximize the healing process. After the patent’s level of severity (“feeling better”), they will be transitioned to Corrective/Strengthen Care to help strengthen the supportive structures. During this phase, we are relying on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. There is were the majority of patient’s start. Usually the frequency of treatment is 2 – 3 times a week for until the patient’s symptoms have decreased to 40 – 50% of the time. This is a sign that the patient is making good improvement with chiropractic care.
Phase Two: Corrective/Strengthen Care
Once the patient’s level of severity has decreased, they will be placed on a rehabilitative exercise program to help strengthen the supporting structures (e.g. muscles, bones and joints). During this phase of healing and care, the patient is given exercises and stretches target specific muscle groups to help promote joint stabilization and increase joint flexibility to help reduce the chance of re-injury, minimize exacerbation and/or flare-ups. This is active treatment, meaning, the patient is taking action in their recovery to better health. As you get better, the frequency of treatment usually decreases to 1 – 2 times a week until the patient’s symptoms have decreased to 70 – 90% of the time. This is a sign that the patient is making functional improvement and is responding well to chiropractic care.
Phase Three: Maintanence/Wellness Care
During this phase of care and healing, the patient’s symptoms are gone or reduced to a manageable level. The patient has been educated on how to manage their symptoms, if they should return. The goal is to help the patient maintain good spinal and joint health throughout their lifetime. This is the end phase of healing and recovery; and where would like to help all of your patients reach, if they choose. The frequency of treatment usually decreases to 1 – 2 times a month. The patient’s symptoms have decreased significantly – they will either be asymptomatic (meaning no symptoms, such as pain) or they are condition has been stabilize to a manageable state. The patient has made the most functional improvement while under chiropractic care, and want to maintain good functional health using chiropractic care as a positive means.
